I'm guessing a previous install of a dev/beta build went wrong and a file in the application support directory caused the issue. I deleted everything in ~/Library/Application\ Support/BraveSoftware then started the app again, it prompted me to grant access to keychain, then it runs fine. I've changed to but still crashes, however it opens fine with sudo.
